Grow your own - Onion greens

Fresh onion greens grown in the kitchen window

Just a tbsp or two of these fresh greens in your salad or on your soup and the whole tasting experience is jazzed up instantly.

You will need:
1 medium onion
small jar (a 170 g nut butter jar for example)

1. Fill up the clean jar with water.
2. Place the onion on top so it sits comfortably on the neck of the jar and the bottom of the onion is touching the water.
3. Place the jar with the onion into your kitchen window and in a few days your onion will grow roots and shoots will start to grow... and green things come to those who are patient.
4. When you are happy with the length, and in need for fresh crisp taste, snip a leaf or two, and chop them fresh. Enjoy!

Tips: You can nurture two or three onions at the same time. Have a few days between them so they can supply you with fresh shoots all the time. As the time goes by refill the older jars with water if needed. Happy growing!
